Affiliate Odyssey

I came to Derek Beauchemin’s blog via a post Amit Mehta made and boy am I glad I did.

Quite how Derek manages to come up with so many content-rich, informative articles and still run an affiliate business, I don’t know but his blog is an absolute treasure trove.

I decided to write a review for 2 reasons:

1. There’s so much dross out there that I felt, as a newbie affiliate marketer, I owed it to other newbies to point out great resources

2. Derek’s running a competition to win advertising on his site - writing a review of his site gets me a load of entry points
So on to the review…

The site design is clean, easy to read and not crawling in Adsense - the only issue I had was that when reading through the archives, it’s easy to overlook posts that don’t appear on the first page for a month. The upside of this was that I found a whole new lot of content when I thought I’d read everything!

I love the way the practical tips and techniques are illustrated with actual case studies, a good example being this series on setting up low maintenance blogs:

• Initial Steps For Building A Low Maintenance Niche Blog
• Promotion Goals For A Low Maintenance Niche Blog

I can’t wait to see how Derek goes about monetising the blog.

Derek’s writing style is so easy to read, that I managed to plough through the whole site in an evening, taking notes as I went.

The site is almost everything a new affiliate could ask for with content ranging from self development to SEO and the great thing is that Derek comes across as very down to earth, with no arrogance - just straight talking, well written advice.
